Left or Right: BFA Degree Project
Recognition: AIGA Boston exhibition, New Voices, Unique Visions, 2016.

This poster series combines Latin letterforms with either their phonetic or historic counterpart in the Arabic abjads. It started as an exercise for the annual 36 Days of Type initiative on Instagram. 3D Print samples and cards accompanied the posters for the BFA Graphic Design exhibition at Boston University.
Historically, almost all of these letterforms evolved from the first recorded proper alphabet, the Phoenician. The world since then changed and created borders between civilizations. In addition to the brief historical inquiry, the project explores more my interest in language in terms of meaning and formal qualities. The name is also a play on the opposing writing directions for Latin scripts (left to right) versus Arabic (right to left).
